Welcome to PETDOR & PETDOR + Mail
Pilot Emergency Temporary Digitization on Request (PETDOR) & PETDOR + Mail services are for the personal, educational, and private research only of UCLA faculty, graduate students, and undergraduate students in certain programs or courses with a library research component (as identified by course instructors). It is intended to provide urgent research materials for UCLA graduate students, undergraduate students, faculty, and researchers of articles and book chapters held in print collections in UCLA libraries that are unavailable online during the pandemic. PETDOR + Mail sends UCLA Library circulating materials to U.S. addresses. P.O. Boxes will NOT be accepted.
Library Special Collections materials are exempt from both services. Materials available online, including those in HathiTrust, will not be digitized or mailed.
You may be asked to register on a quarterly basis as these services evolve.
PETDOR digitization eligible materials:
- UCLA Library print materials include Articles. Book Chapters and Chapter-length portions of music score (ex. One movement or a single work in anthology)
PETDOR + Mail eligible materials:
- Circulating materials include Books, Music Scores, CDs and DVDs
You may now take advantage of this service in three ways:
- Request button in the Melvyl Catalog and select UCLA Young Research Library DDS as preferred contact location.
- UC-eLinks button in selected article databases
- UC-eLinks Citation Linker blank form
NOTE: Select the UCLA Young Research Library DDS from the Campus Document Delivery Service options menu.
While every attempt is made to fill all orders, it is not possible to guarantee that all requests will be filled because materials may be in use or missing.
Office hours are Monday - Friday 8AM - 5PM.
All requests must comply with current United States copyright law.
How Materials Are Delivered
Requests for scans, if approved, will be sent to you via email with a link to the scanned document. If the request is not approved, or if clarification is needed, you will be notified within 2 business days of our receipt of the request. Requests for mailed materials will be sent via FedEx or UPS. Please allow up to two weeks for delivery. Materials will be mailed to the address provided upon registration.
