Books aren’t the only things you can check out from UCLA Library! Tucked away at the front desk of the Louise M. Darling Biomedical Library is a collection of anatomy kits, available for all UCLA students. If you’re taking an anatomy course, studying for an anatomy-related exam or have a personal interest in anatomy, these anatomical models are the perfect resource for you.
Available models include the heart, brain, human skeleton, lung, spine, skull and more.

These models offer a hands-on resource for students to build upon their knowledge from the classroom or lab. “Whether independently or in a group, students can use our various kits to study the structures and movement of human anatomy,” says Gissel Rios, an Open Science and Collections Librarian at UCLA Library. Built in collaboration with anatomy educators at UCLA, the kits are a valuable tool that students can leverage to reinforce the concepts they’ve learned.
“Giving the students access to these models so they can study outside of lab is an invaluable resource. Learning anatomy is like learning a new language, with hundreds of new terms, and just like a language, practice and repetition is the key for retention.”
These anatomy kits are available to both undergraduate and graduate students at UCLA. Students can borrow the models from the front desk of Louise M. Darling Biomedical Library with their Bruincards.
"As a student who could not always attend anatomy office hours or open labs, the biomed anatomy kits were a readily available resource that allowed me to study and review on my own time for as long as I needed," said Kiara Tenorio, who graduated this year with a BS in Biology, and a minor in Public Health.
These materials are part of UCLA Library’s permanent reserves collection and have 2-hour loan periods. Visit the Anatomy Models link below to check them out.
