More Information

To promote a safe and inclusive environment for everyone in our community, we share the following with parents and caregivers:

  • Supervision: Children and dependents under the age of 13 must be accompanied by a parent, guardian or adult caregiver who is responsible for their supervision and well-being while in the library. Please note some areas require valid UCLA Bruincard ID for all users.

  • Collections and Technology: Our collections and digital resources are designed primarily for adults and include unfiltered internet access. Families are encouraged to guide children’s exploration and choose what is appropriate for them.

  • Spaces and Services:
    • Study spaces designed for collaborative study may be more appropriate for families with young children than those intended for quiet study. Suggested locations: YRL Research Commons, Biomed Collaboration Hub, Powell Ground Floor study area.

    • A lactation room is available in YRL. The key to access the room may be requested at the circulation desk.

We want the library to be a welcoming environment for everyone. To make sure it remains a safe and productive place for research, study and collaboration, all visitors — including children and families — are expected to follow the UCLA Library Conduct Policy.

If you have questions about visiting the library with children, please feel free to ask our staff.
