Made possible by a gift from Marvin E. Fieman

Marvin E. Fieman earned his B.A. and M.A. in history at UCLA in 1949 and 1951, respectively. He later returned to the university and received his Ed.D. in 1963 from the School of Education, now the School of Education & Information Studies. With his dual background in history and education, Dr. Fieman went on to teach at both the elementary school and college levels, spending the latter part of his career as a professor at Los Angeles City College, West Los Angeles College and Los Angeles Trade Technical College, where he also served as an administrator. Dr. Fieman began collecting books as a UCLA student and now has a large home library. In addition, his interest in history continued after retirement and was piqued by attending campus lectures. The combination of these two passions led him to establish the Dr.Marvin E. Fieman Endowed Collection in Contemporary World History in the Charles E. Young Research Library.
