More Information

What goals/hopes do you have for this year as our new Assistant Director of Communications and Digital Content?

I’m looking forward to elevating and amplifying diverse stories across UCLA Library to connect the campus and wider community to the significant impact of Library work. There is so much to share, from the individual features of the many physical locations to the expansive collections and materials contained within them. Not to mention the innovative programs and events! I’m hoping to build relationships and an infrastructure that allows us to highlight the uniquely human aspects of the Library. I’m excited to meet and learn from my remarkable colleagues about what inspires them about their work. Ultimately, I can't wait to begin collaborating on new ways of sharing information across different platforms.

How has your prior experience prepared you for this role at the UCLA Library?

As a lifelong Angeleno and a Bruin (B.A. in Comparative Literature and a minor in Digital Humanities), I have a deep understanding of the broader L.A. community and the UCLA campus. I’ve worked in communications for local education, arts and culture, and nonprofit organizations throughout my career and have always had a particular fondness for cultural heritage institutions. My most recent position was with the Natural History Museums of Los Angeles County, where I developed strategic storytelling opportunities and digital deliverables for museum exhibits, events, scientific discoveries, and cultural insights for the Natural History Museum in Exposition Park, La Brea Tar Pits in Mid-Wilshire, and William S. Hart Museum in Newhall. Working in the galleries, libraries, archives, and museums (GLAM) sector is wonderful, as there is always something new to learn and share with the wider world – and all for the creation and preservation of knowledge.

What projects will you be tackling first?

I’m planning to take these first months to reacquaint myself with the amazing breadth of this organization. I already have some tours lined-up of physical locations and will be meeting with as many staff and librarians as possible. I’ll also be working on some communication and marketing plans for the launch of UCLA Library’s new website and the reopening of the Arts Library, as well as leading the social media Content Team.

What are you currently reading/watching/listening to? and/or What do you like to do outside of work?

Outside of work, I love curling up with a good book, taking my dog Lola out for hikes and neighborhood walks, cooking and trying all kinds of delicious food, and sitting down to a film (currently rewatching The Man Who Fell To Earth).

What is your preferred name and what are your preferred pronouns?
