More Information

Please join the Library in congratulating UCLA’s class of 2025 — especially our graduating Library employees! As one of the largest student employers on campus, we rely on talented Bruins working in many roles across our Library ecosystem.

Some of our graduates have shared their favorite memory of working at UCLA Library, read them below.

Tabitha Anctil

Southern Regional Library Facility (SRLF)
Master of Library and Information Science

“The best part about returning to school while working was how supportive and caring everyone at UCLA Library has been, from helping with chaotic scheduling to finding quiet rooms for me to give virtual presentations! The second best part was being able to connect what I was learning in my information studies classes to the real work I did everyday at my job.”

Araceli Argueta

Master of Library and Information Science, San Jose State University
Hugh & Hazel Darling Law Library

“My favorite memory of working in the library is when I get to know my colleagues on a more personal level beyond work matters. Everyone really has a story to share!”

Priscilla Avitia

Master of Library and Information Science
Charles E. Young Research Library (YRL)

“My favorite aspect of working at the library as an LSRA was learning about various new topics from different fields of study. No work day was ever the same! I also enjoyed spending time with my coworkers and advisors.”

Zoë Busenberg

B.A. History, Political Science
UCLA Cluster Program, Powell Library

“Every week, the Peer Research and Writing Specialist Team comes together in the East Rotunda before our Friday team meetings. We all squeeze around one table to swap stories about student interactions, laugh, and chat about our lives. Coming into this role, I expected to be on my own, because every PR&WS works for a different Cluster. Instead, I found a community of inspiring, intelligent peers brought together by a shared love of supporting students. It is this closeness, those sweet moments in Powell Library, that I will miss the most!”

Blaise Carter

Master of Library and Information Science
IS Library & Media Preservation Lab

“Bookbinding workshop with Matt and Kiki from For the Birds Trapped in Airports.”

Joan Choi

B.A. Art History
UCLA Library Special Collections (LSC), YRL

“Looking through some of the unique books we keep in storage like the arsenic/poisonous books (done so in a safe manner) or copies of old storybooks I used to read as a kid. I'm barely an adult and it's funny to see my childhood already being documented and preserved.”

Alexis DeHorta

B.S. Psychobiology
Science and Engineering Library (SEL/Boelter)

“It would have to be when a fellow Boelter employee sent a patron to YRL, and the YRL staff sent him all the way back to Boelter because WE had the book that he was looking for. Very comical because this staff member was so happy to help their first patron. A monument of how we all make mistakes, but ultimately learn from them and strengthen our confidence as library staff.”

Sam Denton

B.S. Bioengineering
Science and Engineering Library (SEL/Boelter)

“Playing the cryptic crossword with Vanessa before she graduated. I was so unhelpful but it was so impressive to see how good she was at it.”

Trinity Drummond

B.A. Music History and Industry, minor in Art History
UCLA Library Special Collections (LSC), YRL

“My favorite memory was playing old albums on the CD player while rearranging the archival stacks in the basement of the LSC with my coworkers!”

Michaela Esposito

B.A. History
UCLA Library Special Collections (LSC), YRL

“My favorite memory from working at Library Special Collections is when I toured the stacks for the first time. I had never been in such a room that was so large, filled with books from top to bottom, that you needed a ladder to reach just the middle shelf. I think I spent at least an hour or two down there just browsing all the rare and valuable books LSC has on-site. Sometimes I still go down there just to take another peek at our first edition 'Pride and Prejudice!'”

Connor Gilbert

B.A. Global Jazz Studies
Walter H. Rubsamen Music Library

“Developing and launching the new Select Sounds community collection.”

Felicity Girty

M.F.A. Film & Television
Unified Access Services, Powell Library

“I think my favorite memory from working at Powell Library has to be all the people I've met through the job! I remember being so excited to work at a place as historic as Powell and now, four years and two degrees later, it has become like a second home to me. I've made some of my best friends because of the Access Services department and I am going to miss the warm environment this department has cultivated!”

Jennifer Gonzalez-Diaz

B.S. Environmental Science
Science and Engineering Library (SEL/Boelter)

“Creating buttons during finals week and setting up polls on our whiteboard!”

Sumaita Hossain

M.P.H. Community Health Sciences

“Participating in Stressbusters and promoting UCLA Library research services as a Library Student Research Assistant!”

Jigisha Hota

“Meeting all the cool and accomplished people (students and visiting profs from all over the country).”

Loretta Hu

B.S. Statistics and Data Science
UCLA Library DataSquad, YRL

“One of my favorite memories was seeing a researcher’s poster displayed on campus — a project I helped them with during consultation office hours at the [UCLA Library] DataSquad. It was a small moment, but it made me incredibly happy. It reminded me how meaningful it is to support others in bringing their ideas to life and how much I’ve grown by helping others grow.”

Eric Huang

B.S. Data Theory
UCLA Library Data Science Center (YRL)

“Working with talented individuals and opportunity to engage with diverse projects/research.”

Daniela Huerta

B.A. Political Science

“Good Morning UCLA featured me and other Powell Access Services student employees in one of his Instagram reels! We got a donut and a lovely video to look back on for Worker Appreciation.”

Sadhana Jeyakumar

B.S. Human Biology & Society, Asian American Studies minor
Cluster 20 Program, Powell Library

“I loved holding office hours and consultations for Cluster 20 students on the ground floor of Powell Library! I remember one time when I was helping a student with their literary analysis paper, they noticed the paintings on the wall that my fellow Peer Research & Writing Specialists and I created during one of our group socials, which sparked a fun conversation about the various owl depictions and art styles. It’s been wonderful working in the recently opened East Rotunda, but the ground floor will always be a special place for me. It still warms my heart to pass by those paintings and curtained tables.”

Hannah Kaufman

Master of Library and Information Science

“Organizing the SRLF’s first book cart-painting party for student workers!”

Miki Shito

B.A. Business Economics

“With the support of motivational team members, I had the honor of contributing to the UCLA-ARC digitization project. It was an unforgettable experience to be part of a larger effort to preserve rare materials and make them more accessible to future scholars!”

Joelle Tran

B.A. Communications
Library Communications, YRL

“One of my favorite memories has been helping promote and facilitate the Library's Marschak Colloquium lectures. I loved hearing brilliant academics explore how powerful algorithms shape public opinion, or how political beliefs form through group identity. As a communications student, it was exciting to connect theory with real-world research on media, technology and social behaviors—and even more rewarding to help create space for those conversations to take place.”

Kayleen Tran

B.A. Global Studies
Southern Regional Library Facility (SRLF)

“Going to the annual spring potluck. The food was amazing and I had a chance to talk to other co-workers my age. We all had a great time talking about our time at work and what we do outside of school. Now we're all great friends!”

Ophelia White

B.S. Psychobiology, Evolutionary Medicine minor

“Taking naps during my 15/lunch breaks”
