Device Availability

See number of devices available at CLICC's Powell and YRL Lending and other Library locations.

1-Week Laptop Lending

Short-term laptop circulation is hosted at most Library locations.

In Powell Library, CLICC Laptop Lending is located in the first floor Night Powell. In the Charles E. Young Research Library (YRL), CLICC Laptop Lending is located in the first floor Research Commons. Other Library locations such as the Biomedical Library, SEL–Boelter, SEL–Geology, and Music Library lend CLICC Chromebooks at their main circulation desks.

Loans are made via walk-up circulation only, and the majority of the devices are available at the Powell Lending location on the first floor of Powell Library. CLICC also hosts lending lockers in Powell Library and YRL with Chromebooks available for loan even beyond CLICC lending location hours.

6-Hour Small Item Lending

CLICC also offers small item lending for 6 hours with 1 renewal. Small item availability varies depending upon circulation location.

Specialty Lending

CLICC offers a variety of specialty equipment through both self-service and mediated reservations. To request an equipment reservation, please submit an Inquiry form in the CLICC Resources & Services portal.

Special Items

Projector Kits - available in the Charles E. Young Research Library (YRL) via self-service reservation and pick-up. See Presentation Kit availability.
Web Presentation Kits - available via mediated reservation using the Inquiry form.

CLICC Device Lending Policy

All CLICC shared devices (Chromebooks, Macs, iPads and Windows laptops) have the same loan policy: 1 week with 1 optional renewal of 1 week.

All CLICC Chromebooks, Mac and Windows laptops, and iPads are issued on 1-week loans with 1 renewal. A patron may renew a device online before the 1-week due date will be able to keep the device for up to an additional week. Every 2 weeks, CLICC devices must return to CLICC at the UCLA Library to receive security and performance updates. If you have issues renewing your device online, you may contact CLICC during business hours.UCLA Library CLICC devices that are not returned by the listed due date will be considered “lost” and a replacement charge will appear on your UCLA and Library accounts. Please note that the Library CLICC will not be able to provide any IT support for devices considered “lost.”

CLICC devices and equipment must be returned to the location from which they were borrowed.

Instructors and teaching assistants who need long-term devices for instruction should contact their departments. For courses in which students are assigned projects requiring technology, instructors should contact CLICC to discuss available options.

Circulation Period & Renewals

CLICC devices such as Chromebooks, Mac laptops, Windows laptops, and iPads circulate with 1-week loans with 1 optional renewal. All individual CLICC device lending is now available walk-up and on-demand. CLICC small items (charge cables, portable power banks, and adapters) will continue to be loaned for 6-hour periods with 1 optional renewal.
