Equipment Lending

BruinCard Policy

A physical BruinCard is required for all CLICC equipment loans. Please see no. 1 of the official campus BruinCard Terms & Conditions(opens in a new tab).

Eligibility

All CLICC resources and services are available only to active UCLA students, staff and faculty. All other UC and external users (including UCLA extension students and alums) can check out Using the Library or visit a library circulation desk to inquire about alternative resources available to you.

CLICC Fines and Fees Policy

All CLICC equipment not returned by the due date/time will result in the following charges to your UCLA Library account:

• Late Fine — $0.20 per minute per item after any device or equipment is late (maximum $50).
• Item Replacement Fee — After 24 hours from the due date, in addition to the late fee of $0.20 per minute (or $12.00 per hour), the item will be considered lost, and an Item Replacement Fee will be charged. If a device is returned damaged or an accessory is missing, the patron is subject to fines for fixing the damaged item or the cost of replacing the item.

Log in to your UCLA Library Account(opens in a new tab) to check all library items loaned out to you, including the due dates/times and any fines and fees charged to you. If you wish to contest your fines/fees, you may submit a ticket to our online portal(opens in a new tab) or email cliccfines@library.ucla.edu (please include your UID). Please note that the Library cannot provide IT support for lost devices.

Various personal computer devices are available to fit different learning, research and instructional needs. Borrowing these devices requires a valid, physical BruinCard upon checkout and return. All our laptops and iPads can access various applications, including common browsers, Zoom and other general productivity applications. Users may install additional software on MacBooks, iPads and HPs if needed. Upon return, we will wipe user data on all laptops and iPads.

If an accessory listed above is missing upon initial checkout of your device, please bring back the equipment immediately to notify a CLICC consultant. Thereafter, any items missing upon return are the patron's responsibility and will be subject to an Item Replacement Fee charged to the patron's account.

We lend a variety of small items from various library locations. Borrowing these items requires a valid, physical BruinCard upon checkout and return. The loan period on small items is six hours or until closing, whichever comes first. These items will always be due before closing and are not eligible for an overnight loan. These items include:
