The Library Prize for Undergraduate Research recognizes and honors excellence in undergraduate research at UCLA. If you are a current UCLA undergraduate student and can answer "yes" to the questions below, your paper or project may be just what the selection committee is looking for.

  • Did you or your team use UCLA Library collections for a research paper or project you completed for a course in the last twelve months?
  • Did your use of library collections and services help to increase the scope, depth, and significance of what you learned?
  • Did your skills as a researcher grow because of your use of library collections?
  • Did your use of library collections inform and strengthen other types of research you performed?

Application Period

The application period for the next Library Prize for Undergraduate Research will begin in early 2023.

Prize Categories

·      Arts, Humanities, & Social Sciences: first prize, $700; second prize, $400
·      Science, Engineering, & Math: first prize, $700; second prize, $400
·      Best project using Library Special Collections resources: first prize, $700; second prize, $400
·      Best project on music after 1900: one prize of $500, funded by the Hugo and Christine Davise Fund for Contemporary Music in the Music Library
·      Best project incorporating resources from William Andrews Clark Memorial Library; one prize of $700

Award Ceremony

The award ceremony will be held on May 27, 2022, from 2-4 pm as part of Undergraduate Research Week.
