Ahmanson-Murphy Reading Room

The Ahmanson-Murphy Reading Room is located on the lower A level of the Charles E. Young Research Library. Library Special Collections materials, including History of Medicine and the Sciences, Performing Arts Special Collections, Center for Oral History Research Program, and University Archives materials, can only be accessed in the Ahmanson-Murphy Reading Room on the A level of the Charles E. Young Research Library.

Center for Oral History Research

The majority of Center for Oral History Research materials are accessible online through their website, UCLA Center for Oral History Research. Interview transcripts and recordings not available online can be accessed in the Ahmanson-Murphy Reading Room on the A level of the Charles E. Young Research Library.

History of Medicine and the Sciences

The History of Medicine and the Sciences area in Library Special Collections documents the history of thought and practice, discoveries and inventions, research trends, communities and communications, and teaching methods and materials in medicine and its allied health fields and in the biological and physical sciences. Collections consist of books, journals, manuscripts, prints, portraits, and objects. Formerly available at a reading room on the 4th floor of the Louise M. Darling Biomedical Library, they now are accessed in the Ahmanson-Murphy Reading Room on the A level of the Charles E. Young Research Library.

Performing Arts Special Collections

Materials that were formerly part of Performing Arts Special Collections, Arts Library Special Collections, and Music Library Special Collections are now officially part of Library Special Collections. They are accessed in the Ahmanson-Murphy Reading Room on the A level of the Charles E. Young Research Library.

University Archives

University Archives materials are now part of Library Special Collections. They are accessed in the Ahmanson-Murphy Reading Room on the A level of the Charles E. Young Research Library.
