More Information

Introduction

The UCLA Library is committed to accessibility for everyone. Our goal is to provide accessible digital resources whenever possible. If you have any questions, need accommodation or encounter accessibility issues at the Library, please contact us(opens in a new tab).

For more information on how we provide accessible services and spaces, please visit Accessibility Resources.

Library Website

The Library website aims for Web Content Accessibility Guidelines 2.1 Level AA Conformance (WCAG 2.1 AA). These standards ensure sites are accessible by requiring alternative text for images, providing guidelines for content order and other methods. We use the web accessibility tool Siteimprove to monitor our site accessibility compliance, readability and usability.

Licensed Resources

Many of the Library’s electronic resources, such as databases, eBook collections and UC Library Search (UC’s online catalog), are made available to our campus community through license agreements with publishers and other vendors. Although the Library cannot exert full control over materials licensed from these providers, our staff works closely with vendors to advocate for accessibility compliance. We request WCAG 2.0 AA compliance in all license negotiations. For any licenses covering software, we complete the Office of the Chief Security Officer (OCISO) Third Party Risk Management Triage that includes an accessibility assessment.

Resources licensed through the California Digital Library (CDL) include an agreement that requires the publisher/vendor to present its data in a form compliant with UC policies and practices designed to comply with the Americans with Disabilities Act. The CDL follows guidelines set forth by the World Wide Web Consortium.

Digitized Collections

UCLA Library Digital Collections includes rare and unique digital materials developed by the UCLA Library to support education, research, service and creative expression. Our digital collections include visual materials, audio recordings and moving images. Please email us(opens in a new tab) if you need support accessing or using these materials.
