About the Exhibit

This exhibit challenges the concept of home and its associations. It draws from the semiotics of space, the interdisciplinary study of the built environment and the psychic and physical attachment to ideas surrounding home, houselessness, displacement and gentrification.

The UCLA Film & Television Archive and the UCLA Luskin Institute on Inequality and Democracy present (Dis)placement: Fluctuations of Home(opens in a new tab), screening July 13 to August 17. This film series explores the concepts of being housed and feeling at home amid ongoing displacement of communities from South Central Los Angeles to Palestine.
