The Lux Lab is a collection of emerging technology services offered by the UCLA Library, including 3D printing and scanning, laser etching and cutting, 3D mapping, and large-format printing. Our printers can print up to a resolution of 25 microns (0.025mm), and our scanners have a max resolution of just 100 microns, or .1mm.
These services are in their pilot phase, are available to all students, staff, and faculty, and are offered free of charge. However, due to limited resources, we cannot fulfill every request or accept every proposal. We heavily prioritize projects that are academic in nature or otherwise directly related to UCLA. We also work closely with our campus's very own student-run print club, 3D4E. Please visit their website for more information!
We have locations in Powell Library, Young Research Library, and are working to expand to the Science and Engineering Library in Boelter Hall. If you'd like to submit a proposal, request, or just ask us some questions, please see our contact information below.
