2024-2025 UCLA Library Impact Report: Intersections of Knowledge
UCLA Library bridges collections, scholarship and innovation, helping students, faculty and public scholars generate knowledge at the intersection of teaching, learning and research. The 2024-2025 UCLA Library Impact Report highlights three stories that demonstrate the Library's deep connection to the university’s academic mission and the broader Los Angeles region. From preserving and making accessible a century of community memory nearly lost in the tragic Los Angeles wildfires, to helping an undergraduate engage their curiosity — resulting in a prize-winning research project, to contributing to L.A.’s cultural imagination through one of the most expansive arts events in the world, UCLA Library remains steadfast in its commitment to advance the university’s local and global priorities while prioritizing scaled and targeted services and preeminent collections that promote academic success. Our campus benefits from the vast expertise across all disciplines and the enduring curiosity of all who engage in the Library. The intersections of knowledge at UCLA Library brings the world to our patrons. UCLA Library enriches creative activity across Los Angeles through region-wide Getty initiative
The Film & Television Archive and Library Special Collections enabled new research, public programming and learning as part of PST ART: Art & Science Collide, the world’s most expansive arts event
Part of Getty’s ‘PST ART: Art & Science Collide’ initiative, the series showcased nearly 40 independent sci-fi features, documentaries, shorts and TV productions from 21 countries
As founding director of the UCLA Film & Television Archive, Rosen grew the collection into the world’s largest university-based repository of original film and television materials
Lisa Cholodenko’s acclaimed 1998 debut feature received its restoration premiere at the Billy Wilder Theater, followed by a Q&A with the filmmaker and collaborators
The UCLA Film & Television Archive and the Yanai Initiative for Globalizing Japanese Humanities hosted a film series in celebration of Giant Robot’s 30-year anniversary
