Biography

A specialist in western and East Asian book history and a bibliographer, Devin completed their Ph.D. in History and East Asian Languages at Harvard University. Devin was a 2015 Andrew W. Mellon Fellow in Critical Bibliography and received additional training at both the University of Virginia and California Rare Book Schools. Devin actively uses 12 languages in their work and instruction, including Chinese, Japanese, Italian, Latin and Spanish. Devin’s background with eastern and western print traditions is a terrific match for the diversity of the UCLA Library’s collections and focus on research and instructional services as well as collection-building.
