UCLA Library Special Collections (LSC) does not hold the copyright for the majority of materials it stewards. LSC cannot grant or deny requests to publish materials for which a third party holds copyright or materials that are in the public domain. Provision of a digital asset does not imply permission to use that asset for any purpose.

It is the user's responsibility to determine whether their request to use, publish or otherwise distribute materials exceeds fair use(opens in a new tab). In some cases, the UC Regents hold the rights to the collections (or portions of those collections) under LSC stewardship.
