Policies
We cannot provide access to AV materials in their original format; they must be evaluated and digitized by AV Preservation staff for safe access.
To access AV materials, please email speccoll-duplication@library.ucla.edu as far in advance of your visit as possible. We will provide you with instructions on how to submit a request to have the materials digitized.
Digitization fees are currently waived for access requests but fees may apply for large orders and requests for publication.
In most cases, you will receive a low-resolution access copy of the material, but collections with donor or privacy restrictions must be viewed on-site in the Reading Room on a locked Library laptop that we provide. LSC staff will confirm how you can access the materials after we receive your request.
Internet connection, Bluetooth connection and USB ports are disabled on the library-owned laptop.
Digitization can take as long as four weeks to process; please notify us of your AV access request as soon as possible so we can determine if you are required to view the materials in our reading room.
