More Information

Please join us in welcoming Caitlin Wells to the UCLA Library! Caitlin is our new collection analysis and services specialist for the Library's Licensing & E-Resources Acquisitions (LEA) team within the Resource Acquisitions & Metadata Services (RAMS) department.

In order to introduce you to our newest Library member, we asked her a few questions about coming to UCLA:

What goals/hopes do you have for this year as our new Collection Analysis and Services Specialist?

I’m excited to learn more about e-resources and contribute to the gathering and analysis of collection data. My hope is that I can help my colleagues make data-driven decisions about e-resources acquisitions and provide useful context for our collections.

How has your prior experience prepared you for this role at the UCLA Library?

I have about 10 years of experience working in academic libraries in special collections and archives, where I discovered a love for collection analysis and assessment. I recently completed a data analysis bootcamp so I could expand my data cleanup and visualization skills.

What projects will you be tackling first?

I’m working on getting up to speed with Alma and the various departmental workflows, and I’m excited to start reviewing and analyzing collection data and statistics. I know there’s a lot to learn about e-resources and the specific systems UCLA uses to gather and manage data collection, so I expect to spend a lot of time working on that.

What are you currently reading/watching/listening to? What do you like to do outside of work?

I’m currently watching a lot of Bob’s Burgers and The New Girl, and starting to work my way through Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. (I will admit that there’s some Vanderpump Rules in there, too.) I like to spend my time knitting, sewing, and hanging out with my partner and our two pets–Gwen, a retired racing greyhound, and Quesadilla, a very loud cat. I live in Albuquerque, and enjoy exploring the city while looking for the best breakfast burritos.

What is your preferred name and what are your preferred pronouns?

My preferred name is Caitlin, and my pronouns are she/her/hers.
