3D Printers
Below is a list and technical specifications of our printer fleet. Projects will be assigned to printers based on complexity and material requirements.
Makerbot Replicator 5th Generation: Our smallest Makerbot printer. Uses Fused Deposition Modeling (FDM) printing technology. Primary material used is PLA (Polylactic Acid) filament. Build volume is 9.9in x 7.8in x 5.9in L/W/H. Prints with a layer thickness of 100 microns.
Makerbot Replicator+: Our most heavily used, and most reliable Makerbot printer. Uses Fused Deposition Modeling (FDM) printing technology. Primary material used is PLA (Polylactic Acid) filament. Build volume is 11.6in x 7.6in x 6.5in L/W/H. Prints with a layer thickness of 100 microns.
Makerbot Replicator Z18: Our largest printer. Uses Fused Deposition Modeling (FDM) printing technology with an air-heated print chamber to mitigate warping on large-scale prints. Primary material used is PLA (Polylactic Acid) filament. Build volume is 11.8in x 12.0in x 18.0in L/W/H. Prints with a layer thickness of 100 microns.
Lulzbot Taz 6: A more creativity-focused and material-flexible FDM printer. Uses primarily PLA filament, but is also capable of using experimental and water-soluble filaments. TAZ Single Extruder and TAZ Dual Extruder toolheads are available, and maximum hot end temperature is 290°. Build volume is 11in x 11in x 9.8in L/W/H), and maximum print surface temperature is 120°. Prints with a layer thickness of 40-50 microns.
Formlabs Form 2: Our highest resolution printer. Utilizes Stereolithography (SLA) technology to create prints out of photoreactive resin. Build volume is 5.7in X 5.7in X 6.9in L/W/H, and is contained in a self-heating resin tank. Capable of printing with both flexible and standard Formlabs resin. Prints with a layer thickness of 25 microns. Laser wattage is 250mW.
Formlabs Form 3: Utilizes Low Force Stereolithography (LFS) technology to create resin-based 3D prints to reduce the forces of the print process. Build volume is 5.7in X 5.7in X 6.9in L/W/H, and is contained in an air-heated print chamber. Capable of printing with both flexible and standard Formlabs resin. Prints with a layer thickness of 25 microns. Laser wattage is 250mW.
Laser Etcher/Cutter
Epilog Helix 24: Capable of laser etching and laser cutting a variety of materials, including acrylic, wood, mat board, glass, and stainless steel. Engraving area is 24in x 18in. Maximum etching thickness is 8.5in, and maximum cutting thickness is 1/4in. Laser wattage is 40W, and resolution 75 to 1200 dpi.
3D Scanning
Arctec Space Spider: A highly accurate 3D scanner, perfect for 3D rendering of small to medium-sized objects. 3D point accuracy: 50 microns. 3D resolution: 100 microns. 3D accuracy: 0.03% over 100cm. Working distance: 0.2-0.3m. Volume capture zone: 2,000cm³.
Arctec Eva: A step up from the Space Spider, capable of 3D rendering larger items at a lower accuracy. 3D point accuracy: 100 microns. 3D resolution: 500 microns. 3D accuracy: 0.03% over 100cm. Working distance: 0.4-1.0m. Volume capture zone: 610m³.
