The Science and Engineering Library (SEL) comprises two collections in separate locations: SEL/Engineering and Mathematical Sciences Collection in 8270 Boelter Hall and SEL/Geology-Geophysics Collection in 4697 Geology Building.

The SEL collections include more than 576,000 volumes, more than 5,400 serials currently received, and more than four million technical reports. Staffing includes four FTE librarians, four FTE staff personnel, and seven FTE student employees.

Reference service is provided weekdays by library staff members at the Boelter Hall facility. Reference help is also available by email. Consultations are available by appointment. For UCLA students, faculty, and staff, many article databases are available via web access. Searches of these article databases offer rapid access to the full-text of thousands of books and journals via UC e-Links.

SEL librarians can provide classroom demonstrations of online resources, including journal article databases, electronic journals and reference sources, the UCLA Library Catalog, and other library catalogs. Course-related instruction is available upon the request of faculty members. Please contact an SEL subject librarian to discuss course-related library assignments.
