The Sciences Libraries welcome our new librarian, Wynn Tranfield! Wynn holds a BSc from McGill University where she focused on plant physiology and open-source mapping for erosion management. Her work as a field ecologist piqued her interest in data management and preservation, leading her to the University of Washington. While completing her MLIS, she re-designed Washington State’s Geoportal, completed a Digital Preservation plan for the UW Herbarium, and worked on historic cartographic cataloging projects. She’s interested in geospatial technology, open access publishing, information literacy instruction in the sciences.
Wynn will be a liaison to our Earth, Planetary, and Space Sciences department as well as Basic Sciences in the School of Medicine. Feel free to contact Wynn in either of these areas for anything library related, including research assistance, collections, and library instruction.
