Welcome Lorenza Herrera, NNLM PSR Office Manager

Please join us in welcoming Lorenza Herrera to the UCLA Library, serving in the role of office manager for the National Network of Libraries of Medicine – Pacific Southwest Region, based in UCLA’s Louise M. Darling Biomedical Library. In order to introduce you to our newest team member, we asked Lorenza a few questions about joining the Library.

What goals/hopes do you have for this year as the new NNLM PSR Office Manager?
My goal is to gain a solid understanding of the budgetary needs we have for NNLM as quickly as possible.

How has your prior experience prepared you for this role at the UCLA Library?
In my prior employment, I worked and understood how we received, tracked, kept and submitted for our yearly fiscal budget. Although UCLA’s process is on a grander scale, my previous experience will help me understand and learn it quickly.

What things will you be tackling first?
I will be tackling my orientation trainings and familiarizing myself with all programs and software I will access for the job.

What are you currently reading/watching/listening to? or What do you like to do outside of work?
Outside of work, it’s all about family and church. As a family, we love to watch series together (Netflix, Disney). We just finished “Star Wars: The Mandalorian.”  We watch and go see musicals. Currently, we are looking forward to seeing “The Book of Mormon,” “The Lion King,” and “Hamilton” (for the third time)!

We are delighted to have Lorenza working in the UCLA Library. You can contact her at lherrera@library.ucla.edu.
