International and Area Studies Fall 2022 Reading List: Diasporas

This reading list highlights diasporic communities–large and small–around the world and our collections related to them. It features not only well-known groups and countries (e.g., immigrants to the US) but also other communities we might not normally think of. It includes scholarly, non-fiction, and fictional works that underline the different reasons for migration and convey the varied experiences of migrants and their descendants, both as whole groups and individuals. It shows that there is a history of movements across the globe and connections between geographic regions and their peoples.
