How Can You Support Discovery, Research, and Innovation at UCLA?
By Melissa Osorio on Dec 14, 2016
Donate to the UCLA Library! Whether on campus or online, the Library drives research and innovation at UCLA and beyond. As we look to UCLA’s centennial celebration in 2019, we have identified key investments in collections, services for students and faculty, spaces, and technology that are essential to UCLA’s position as a leader with solutions for our world’s most pressing challenges. Here are some examples of how you can help.
HANDS-ON EXPERIENCE WITH COLLECTIONS
The UCLA Library’s world-renowned collections draw scholars from around the world, and UCLA students and faculty have access to these resources on our own campus!
You can fund a graduate student fellowship in the Center for Primary Research and Training for $35,000, establish a collection endowment in a particular field of study for $50,000 or more, or endow a Special Collections curator position for $1 million.
INNOVATIVE SOLUTIONS TO MEET GROWING NEEDS
The Library benefits every student at UCLA—undergraduates, graduate students, and professional school students. Students get research assistance in one-on-one sessions, classrooms, dorms, or via 24/7 “Ask a Librarian” chat. Our librarians are leaders in their field, and having the best and brightest staff enables us to provide the research guidance that not only students but also star faculty and researchers rely on.
You Can Help
Ensure library resources are always available by endowing electronic databases for $100,000 or a librarian position starting at $1 million.
DYNAMIC SPACES AND CUTTING-EDGE TECHNOLOGY
With more than 25 million online and in-person visits per year, the Library’s spaces and resources are in high demand. Quiet and collaborative study spaces are available in eight library locations across campus. Our laptop loan program was used over 100,000 times last year.
Make a Difference
Help keep Library spaces and technology evolving to meet the needs of current and future Bruins by naming a group study room for $100,000, sponsoring renovation of an upper floor in the Charles E. Young Research Library for $1 million, or starting a technology endowment for $100,000.
Whatever your interest or passion, the UCLA Library has an opportunity to match. In fact, these are only a few of the many ways you can get involved. The UCLA Library creates a vibrant nexus of ideas, collections, expertise, and spaces in which users illuminate solutions for local and global challenges. We constantly evolve to advance UCLA’s research, education, and public service mission by empowering and inspiring communities of scholars and learners to discover, access, create, share, and preserve knowledge.
