The third National Joint Conference of Librarians of Color (JCLC) at the Albuquerque Convention Center in New Mexico, celebrated the achievements of individuals from each of the American Library Association's ethnic affiliate associations.
The UCLA Library had three members recognized. Jeannie Chen was awarded a scholarship from the Chinese American Librarians Association (CALA). Renee Romero was awarded a scholarship from the American Indian Librarians Association (AILA). Annie Phó was awarded a Rising Leader Award from the Asian/Pacific American Librarians Association (APALA). She was one of 5 recipients of the award, which recognizes a promising future leader who has less than ten years of experience in the profession.
