Apply for a Library Student Job Today!

Dear Bruins:

The UCLA Library is ramping up to welcome students, faculty and staff back to our libraries this fall as the university plans for a return to on-campus learning, living and work. In order to open our doors and fully restore normal hours of operation, we currently are recruiting for nearly 100 entry-level student employee rolesUCLA Library is hiring students flyer

With flexible hours and competitive pay, Library jobs provide students with the opportunity to learn new skills and interact with different campus communities. Positions are available in Access Services across all the UCLA Library locations (Arts, Biomedical, Geology, Management, Music, Powell Library, Science and Engineering, Charles E. Young Research Library) and incorporate frontline and behind-the-scenes services, including but not limited to the following responsibilities:

  • Assisting users at the Help Desk
  • Learning call numbers, sorting and shelving returned books
  • Assisting users with technology
  • Directing users to resources, locations and services within the libraries

These positions are available solely to UCLA students. Currently enrolled students may apply now and begin working immediately as soon as their paperwork is completed, or defer until the start of the fall quarter. Students hired for summer may continue into fall quarter. Incoming students are also eligible to apply now and may start working week zero (week of September 20), once they are officially enrolled.

I invite current and incoming students to apply for a part-time student assistant job in Access Services or another Library unit. You may also find additional details about the application process on the Library website

While we look ahead to fully staffing our libraries for a return to on-campus learning, UCLA Library will continue to offer remote services to help you pursue your academic goals over the summer months. I look forward to welcoming Bruins back to all libraries — with the help of our outstanding student staff. Until then, please continue to take care.

Best regards,
