Steel beams are being placed in the ceiling, behind the decorative tiles. When the work is completed, it will be invisible to visitors and will not affect the historical aspects of the building.
Who is able to visit a library? Are libraries open to the public?
As of March 28, 2022, the Library is open to BruinCard holders, alumni and the general public.
What is required for admittance into the libraries?

Are Library staff available to meet with instructors or classes?
Library staff are available to provide virtual or in-person support for instructors and classes. To request library instruction, submit an instruction request or email Requestinstruction@library.ucla.edu.
Are events allowed now that libraries have resumed onsite services?
UCLA Library prioritizes use of conference rooms and other spaces for Library events and activities, including the delivery of teaching, learning and research services. Events programmed by UCLA Library affiliates who are using Library services and/or materials in their programs may be considered on a case-by-case basis. Non-affiliates may attend events that are open to the public, but the Library does not have the capacity to host non-affiliate events.
Has the Arts Library reopened after seismic construction?
The Arts Library, located in the Luskin School of Public Affairs building, has reopened to patrons as of January 9th, 2023. Most page and pickup services have been discontinued, with the exception of materials listed as (Request Only) Arts Storage. Initial Winter Quarter hours of operation are 10:00am - 5:00pm, Monday - Friday. Please contact us at AskUs@library.ucla.edu with questions.
