Improving Emergency First Response for Individuals in Behavioral Crises

Speaker: Harold Pollack, Helen Ross Professor of Public Policy and Social Service Administration, University of Chicago

Men and women who experience severe mental illness and other challenges face increased risks of having a violent encounter with police officers and other first responders. Pollack will describe strategies to improve emergency response to such incidents and present promising strategies to reduce the risk of such violent encounters.

Pollack received his BS in electrical engineering and computer science from Princeton University and MA and PhD in public policy at Harvard University. He is Co-Director of The University of Chicago Crime Lab.
