How Are The Humanities Contributing to Water Sustainability?

This half-day symposium is sponsored by UCLA Library Special Collections and will be held in the Main Conference Room of the Charles E. Young Research Library.

The symposium intends to consider what the humanities can contribute to the UCLA Grand Challenge, Thriving in a Hotter Los Angeles, as well as the issue of environmental sustainability at large. It will host two panel sessions covering the areas of environmental activism and environmental humanities, and will close with a discussion on the question, “How are the humanities contributing to environmental sustainability?” The event will feature speakers from the UCLA Institute of the Environment and Sustainability, UCLA Library, Center for Oral History Research, Friends of the Los Angeles River, and the Departments of Atmospheric and Oceanic Sciences, Geography, History, and English.
