Shielded by jungles, mountains, and private armies, the opium fields of the Golden Triangle supply heroin and morphine to the world's urban
ghettos. Drug lords and their cronies make a handsome living by cultivating this single crop. But times are changing. The world community
seeks to reduce the local economy's reliance on opium production. One by one, the warlords are making peace and disbanding their armies. In
this film, tribal peoples tell what it is like to participate in this moment of change.

initial visit 30 years ago. Today the Hmong who remain in Asia are transitioning from opium farming to the vegetable and flower business.
The filmmaker witnesses a village divorce proceeding, a shamanic healing ceremony, and a mine sweeping crew at work. He then looks at how
diasporic Hmongs are working to preserve essential aspects of their culture in America.
