| How
do I locate information I might need which is located on the web?
|
There are several different ways you
may find information. Select the one which seems most appropriate.
- Each campus web page has links to
resources based on subjects and by
level of government. If any of those match your need,
try one of them.
- INFOMINE
is often a good place to begin a search. You can browse
subjects or search directly for a subject.
- If you know what federal, state or international agency
might have produced the information you need, use the general sites
below to locate that agency and their web page to see if you can
find what you need.
- There are many major search sites designed
to help find information. Try one of them.
- Try one of the growing number of resources
on the University
of California Gateway to Government Information.

| Are there
databases which can help identify sources other than web pages?
|
There are several databases
which might be of use to you. This web page provides you with
a subject
listing of the major databases. They are of 2 main types:
- Free to the public.
- Commercial databases which are restricted
to UC campus users. These are marked UC
users only.
Also provided are instructions on how to locate
other databases.
It may be necessary for you to go into a library
to locate the publications identified in these databases. Use
the Melvyl
database as a place to start finding locations for those publications
you identify. Some entries provide links to full text resources.
