A Planning Framework for the Efficient Operation of Slocum Gliders in Coastal Regions

Description or Abstract of the Project: 

This project draws from the "Slocum Glider data from 2009 and 2010" dataset collected in the Southern California Bight Region, where researchers frequently use Slocum gliders to study harmful algal blooms. The goal of this project is to to plan paths that reduce the possibility of the occurences of gliders surfacing in risky, high-traffic regions (and colliding with ships) as much as possible while also ensuring that the planned paths for the gliders are useful to scientists running their scientific experiments in the given region.The above information is from CENS report AQU 03.
