Meeting Site and Accommodations The Long Beach Hilton Hotel will be the meeting site. It is located next to the World Trade Center on the coast in downtown Long Beach. Hotel amenities include an outdoor pool and sundeck as well as an exercise room. There is a restaurant in the hotel and several others nearby. Hotel rooms have been reserved for participants at a special rate of $115 (single or double occupancy). Reservations must be made directly with the hotel. Be sure to ask for the "SALALM-UCLA" conference rates. We urge you to make your hotel reservations early, since other events are scheduled at the hotel during this time and space is limited. Check-in time: 3 pm; check-out time: 12 noon Travel Arrangements You should make travel arrangements at once since the conference begins on the Memorial Day weekend and Monday, May 29, is a national U.S. holiday. Both the Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) and John Wayne/Orange County Airport are 25 minutes from the hotel. The Long Beach Airport is 10 minutes away, and offers access from major cities throughout the United States, but service is limited. You will find much wider service and cheaper fares to LAX. Ground Transportation Super Shuttle provides airport shuttle service to the hotel from LAX for $14.00 per person, and from John Wayne/OC Airport for $32.00. At LAX, shuttles depart from the BLUE VAN STOP area outside each terminal on the airport lower level. A $1 coupon for Super Shuttle is enclosed in the registration packet. Taxi service from the Long Beach Airport costs about $15. Hotel parking ranges from $5 to $10 per day. Average high temperatures in late May range from the mid-60s to the mid-70s. It is always cool at night, so be sure to bring along a sweater or light jacket.
