| "Study in Reaction" is an example of Bowers's pre-Stanford free verse. "Two Poems on the Catholic Bavarians: 2," written by Bowers at Stanford, includes some of the same material as "Study in Reaction," but the rhymed quatrains of the latter helped Bowers write a sharper, more memorable poem. |
