49th Annual RBMS Preconference New Attendees

Welcome Newcomers!

You are invited to attend the 49th Annual Preconference of the Rare Books and Manuscripts Section (RBMS) of the Association of College and Research Libraries, a division of the American Library Association. If you are attending an RBMS Preconference for the first time, and would like to learn more about RBMS, you are encouraged to attend the Conference Orientation and Introduction to RBMS, to be held Tuesday, June 24, from 5:00 to 6:00 p.m. at the Luxe Hotel.

Please note that no business or committee meetings of the Rare Books and Manuscripts Section are held during the Preconference. These meetings take place at ALA Annual and Midwinter meetings. RBMS also sponsors a program session on a topic of interest during the ALA Annual Conference, held this year in Anaheim, California from June 26 - July 2, 2008.

The Rare Books and Manuscripts Section is offering scholarships to subsidize first-time attendance at its 49th Annual Preconference. Please visit the scholarship page for more information.

The "Buddy" Program

If you are a new member of RBMS and would like a "buddy" to guide you through the Preconference experience or through ALA Annual or ALA Midwinter meetings, visit the RBMS Membership and Professional Development Committee "Buddy" Program Web site. You do not have to be a first-time preconference attendee to request a buddy.
