SEL Instant Messaging (IM)

Instant Message (IM) Screen Name: uclaselref (for AIM, Gmail, MSN, or Yahoo) Instant Messaging is often available during Reference Hours (M-F, 11 a.m.-Noon; 1-3 p.m.)

If you prefer, you can use the "IM SEL Reference" chat box (to the left) without any IM account. When you are done chatting with us, you can disconnect by either closing your browser, or clicking on the green button in the upper right corner of the "IM SEL Reference" chat box.

When uclaselref is offline, you can either leave a message in the "IM SEL Reference" chat box (including your contact information), or use our Questions? Email Us service.

  • The SEL Reference Desk is located in the SEL/Engineering and Mathematical Sciences (EMS) Collection, Boelter Hall, northeast corner, room 8270
  • Reference Service in SEL/Chemistry and SEL Geology-Geophysics Collections is by appointment only.
