Charles E. Young Research Library

Exhibit Spaces

The redesign contains two spaces for library exhibits; a central area will feature changing exhibits, and a permanent, museum-quality gallery will showcase Library treasures.

In the permanent exhibit gallery, selections from among the UCLA Library’s unique manuscripts, rare books, artwork, and other items valuable for both their historical significance and their importance to research will be on long-term display. The cases will be climate controlled, which will allow rarely exhibited items to be shown for extended periods.

The changing exhibits space will be in the high-traffic area immediately inside the front doors to the building. Surrounded by translucent panels in a circular configuration, the cases in this space will present Library materials in thematic exhibits on a variety of topics. The space will also have several video monitors, which can be used to show video components or multiple pages from items in the cases.
