UCLA COLLEGE LIBRARY APHS LIBRARY CARD INFORMATION GUIDE

Welcome to the UCLA College Library, in the Powell Library Building!

The services and collections of the College Library support the basic research needs of UCLA undergraduates. The library has approximately 200,000 books and 700 periodical subscriptions, in a wide range of subjects.

SAVE TIME AND AVOID FRUSTRATION!

Before visiting UCLA...

  • ...learn how to use the freely available UCLA Library Catalog to find call numbers and library locations for books and subscriptions to periodicals (magazines, journals and newspapers)--no articles are listed here.

HOW TO GET A FREE APHS LIBRARY CARD (College Library only)
  1. Your high school librarian or AP coordinator needs to send us an alphabetical list of all eligible students, on school letterhead. (NO SOCIAL SECURITY NUMBERS.)
  2. In order to get a library card, APHS students must bring a current photo ID (driver's license, school ID, passport, etc.) to the College Library Circulation Desk after we have received a list from their school.Cards are issued for 1-year, September to September.

ANY STUDENT NOT ON THE LIST OR LACKING A VALID ID WILL NOT RECEIVE A LIBRARY CARD - NO EXCEPTIONS

Please note: Replacement cards are $3.00.
Students must contact Roy Ho at (310) 206-4065 for replacement information.

College Library hours during the ten-week Fall, Winter and Spring quarters are:

Circulation Desk
M-Th 7:30 am - 11 pm
Fr. 7:30 am - 6 pm
Sat 9 am - 5 pm
Sun 1 pm - 10 pm
Reference Desk*
M-Th 9 am - 8 pm
Fri 9 am - 6 pm
Sat 1 pm - 5 pm
Sun 1 pm - 5 pm

*We suggest that students visit College Library when the reference desk is open.

HOW TO CHECK OUT BOOKS
College Library books can be checked out for 2 weeks and are renewable online if there are no holds on them. Go to the UCLA Library Catalog, click on My Account and log in with your library card number. Remember to return books through the book return at the Circulation Desk, or when the library is closed, through the outside book return on the west side of Powell Library Building.

HOW TO MAKE PHOTOCOPIES
Periodicals (magazines and journals) cannot be checked out, but you may photocopy for 10 cents per page, using a "copicard". Copicard vending machines ONLY accept bills: $1, $5, $10 or $20 and do not provide change.
