Hans Christian Andersen:
His Life & Work

March 20 - April 18, 2000
Powell Library Building Rotunda

This exhibit is sponsored by the UCLA Scandinavian Section and Royal Danish Consulate. Andersen is most famous for his almost 200 fairy tales. In addition he wrote hundreds of poems, novels, autobiographies, diaries, travelogues and works for the theater. This 20 panel exhibit from the Odense City Museum in Denmark traces his life which began as a poor cobbler's son to a respected international celebrity and one of Denmark's most famous treasures. We have complimented the panel displays with representative books from the UCLA Library collection.
