CURRENT EXHIBIT IN THE ROTUNDA
Photographer Carol Petersen shares her vision of UCLA women students in
black-and-white photo images. This exhibit is affiliated with the "UCLA
Women 4 Change 2000" project, a week-long celebration and call to action
focused on UCLA women, scheduled for April 17-21, 2000. This exhibit will
be shown at a national conference on women in higher education at the University
of Minnesota: "Women's Lives, Women's Voices, Women's Solutions," March
27 -28, 2000. Petersen is a Special Assistant in the Chancellor's Office
of Academic Development.

The UCLA Library will launch a test version of
ORION2,
its new online information system soon. ORION2 replaces the existing system
and provides access to the library's catalog and many other library resources
via a World Wide Web-based system.

The UCLA Gluck Jazz Combo performed classic jazz standards in the Powell
Library Rotunda to a relaxed and welcoming audience. The Jazz Combo musicians
are: Brian Switzer, trumpet; Sean Castle, sax; Mark San Filippo, drums;
Ross Grant, guitar; Geoff Rakness, bass.

UCLA Early Music Collective and Danzando
Cantar e Danzar
Renaissance and Baroque Song and Dance

| The UCLA Early Music Collective and Danzando, an early music dance
troupe performed before a full house. Their program included vocal and
instrumental music with some accompanying dance. This program was collaboratively
directed by UCLA professors Elisabeth Le Guin and Tom Beghin.
The Early Music Collective includes: Jacqueline Warwick & Kristin
Hightower, sopranos; ErikLeidal, Durrell Bowman, Louis Niebuhr, tenors;
Gordon Haramaki, Danial Goldmark, baritones; Rebecca Rosen, Elisabeth le
Guin, cello; Yara Sellin, Katharina Brand, harpsichord; Daniel Goldmark,
recorder; Er-gene Kahng, violing; Sebastian Salvado, guitar.
Danzando includes: Lizbeth Langston, creative director,
Bruce Bancroft, Gordon Haramaki, Janet Haramaki, Joan Hulett, Karen
Kahler, Sheila Murphy-Nelson, Walter Nelson, and Krisanto Pranata.

| A special classical guitar concert was performed by students Payam
Larijani & Sebasitan Salvado in the Powell Library Rotunda. Performing
solo as well as a duo, the program included selections from Scarlatti,
J.S. Bach, Villa-Lobos, Narvaez, Vivaldi and Satie. |

North Indian Classical Music

| UCLA students of the Ethnomusicology Department's renowned faculty
master musicians, Shujaat Khan and Abhiman Kaushal will perform North Indian
classical music featuring sitar, tabla and voice. Also known as Hindustani
music, this traditional classical musical form dates back for thousands
of years. |
