Introduction
This guide is designed to aid your research for primary and secondary sources related to the study of science and technology since World War II. It can be used as a jumping off point, as you engage in researching your individual topic. Both print and online resources are listed, as well as those owned by UCLA and beyond campus borders.

Agency Approach to Locating Government Information

Finding Articles
America History & Life (UC Only)
Indexes and abstracts over 2000 journal articles on the history, social life and customs of the people of the United States and Canada from prehistory to the present. This extensive database also covers books, chapters in books, media reviews, and dissertations from 1964-present.
Business Source Premier (UC Only)
Provides full text for more than 7,400 scholarly business journals and other sources, including full text for nearly 1,100 peer-reviewed business publications. This database offers information in nearly every area of business including management, economics, finance, accounting, international business. It includes other sources of full text information such as country economic reports from the EIU, Global Insight, ICON Group and CountryWatch and detailed company profiles for the world's 10,000 largest companies.
EconLit (UC Only)
EconLit is the fundamental tool in economics, providing bibliographic citations, with selected abstracts, to the international literature on economics since 1969. EconLit covers a broad range of document types published world-wide, including journal articles, books, and dissertations, as well as articles in collective works, such as conference proceedings and collected essay volumes.
Education Full Text
Indexes articles on education from more than 650 English-language periodicals and yearbooks published in the U.S. and elsewhere since June 1983. Covers a number of periodicals not handled by ERIC and includes more articles from each periodical that it indexes than ERIC does. Also indexes book reviews. The complete text of articles as far back as 1996 is available for more than 200 of the journals. Google Scholar
Searches specifically for scholarly literature including books, peer-reviewed articles, theses, preprints, and technical reports. Links to the full-text of articles from open access (available without a subscription) journals and preprint repositories.
History of Science, Technology, and Medicine (UC Only)
Contains citations from journal articles, conference proceedings, books, book reviews, and dissertations in the history of science, the history of technology, and allied historical fields in a variety of languages. Covers 1976 - present. Incorporates the Isis Current Bibliography of the History of Science, the Current Bibliography in the History of Technology, the Bibliografia Italiana di Storia della Scienza, and the Welcome Library for the History and Understanding of Medicine. 1975- .
International ERIC
Index to non-U.S. writing about education, especially useful for information about developing countries. Consists of Australian Education Index(1978 to present) covering journal articles, conference papers, and reports by Australian authors or about Australian education published in overseas sources and British Education Index (1976 to present) covering significant journal literature. Master's and doctoral theses written for degrees at British, Irish and Australian universities are also described.
LexisNexis Academic (UC Only)
Full-text news, business, legal, medical, and reference information. "News" section indexes and provides access to a large collection of U.S. and international newspapers, newsletters, wire service reports, transcripts of television and radio news broadcasts, and student newspapers. Includes foreign language newspapers, and full-text coverage of the New York Times from June 1, 1980 to the present. Also useful for finding full text of current performing arts and media industry news in major newspapers. (NOTE: Database is unavailable every Saturday night/Sunday morning, 11:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m., Pacific time.)

New York Times – Current (UC Only)
The New York Times Current (1995-) offers fulltext coverage of national and international news, plus coverage of important speeches and documents, Supreme Court decisions and presidential press conference...
New York Times – Historical (UC Only) The New York Times historical (1851-2001) offers full page and article images with searchable full text back to the first issue. The collection includes digital reproductions providing access to every page from every available issue.
PAIS Archive (UC Only)
Provides international coverage of citations to articles, books, conference proceedings, and government documents on social and political policy, political science, public administration, current affairs, and related topics, from 1937-1976.

Provides international coverage (with abstracts since 1985) to articles, books, conference proceedings, and government documents on social and political policy, political science, public administration, current affairs, and related topics, from 1972 to the present.
ISI Web of Science (UC Only)
Through the Web of Science, users can access the three ISI Citation Databases: Science Citation Index Expanded (1945- with full-text author abstracts for many items from 1991-); Social Sciences Citation Index (1956- with full-text author abstracts for many items from 1992- ; Arts & Humanities Citation Index (1975- with full-text author abstracts 2001-); . Cited reference searching, unique to ISI, lets you search the databases for articles that cite a known author or work.
