African HealthLine (AHA) is a collection of bibliographic databases on African health issues. AHA offers access to a unique collection of sources including many from Africa and covering all aspects of African health issues.
AGRICOLA (AGRICultural Online Access)
AGRICOLA is a bibliographic database of citations to the agricultural literature created by the National Agricultural Library and its cooperators. The database covers materials in all formats, including printed works from the 15th century. The records describe publications and resources encompassing all aspects of agriculture and allied disciplines, including animal and veterinary sciences, entomology, plant sciences, forestry, aquaculture and fisheries, farming and farming systems, agricultural economics, extension and education, food and human nutrition, and earth and environmental sciences.

AIDSLINE® (AIDS information onLINE)
AIDSLINE® is no longer available as a separate database. Citations to monographs (including books, audiovisuals, serials, book chapters, and meeting papers) are now in LOCATORplus. Citations to journals have been moved to PubMed. AIDS is a subset under Limits. Online citations to both types of AIDS literature (journal articles as well as monographs) are accessible through the National Library of Medicine Gateway.

Rigorously peer-reviewed, this work covers the toxicological effects of hazardous substances, chemicals, and compounds. The Cancer.gov™ database provides access to several cancer information resources, all produced by the National Cancer Institute. PDQ contains peer-reviewed summaries on cancer treatment, screening, prevention, and supportive care; a registry of clinical trials from around the world; and directories of physicians and organizations that provide cancer care. CANCERLIT contains references and abstracts to the vast realm of cancer literature published in journal articles, meeting abstracts, books, and reports, from 1963 to the present. CancerTrials is a detailed clinical trials information resource, which includes helpful information on understanding and finding clinical trials.

ChemFinder collects, organizes, indexes and displays information on chemical substances from over 250 sites, including physical property data and 2-D chemical structures, and links to sites with more information. The database is searchable by chemical name, formula, molecular weight, and CAS Registry Number. Chemical structures may be viewed in ChemDraw or Chem3D.
Chemical Carcinogenesis Research Information System (CCRIS) via TOXNET
This factual database, maintained by the National Cancer Institute, contains approximately 8,000 chemical records which include data on carcinogenicity, mutagenicity, tumor promotion, and tumor inhibition test results of the chemicals. All data included are scientifically evaluated and fully referenced.
Chemicals in the Environment: OPPT Chemical Fact Sheets
The OPPT Chemical Fact Sheets are produced by the Office of Pollution Prevention and Toxics to provide a brief summary of information on selected chemicals. The Fact Sheets cover each chemical’s identity, production and use, environmental fate, and health and environmental effects. They also include a list of laws under which the chemical is regulated, phone numbers, and the names of EPA offices and other agencies to contact for more information.
CHID Online (Combined Health Information Database)
CHID Online is an index to health information and health education resources produced by health-related agencies of the federal government. Coverage is from 1985 to the present.
CINAHL Plus (Cumulative Index of Nursing and Allied Health Literature) UCLA only
The CINAHL database provides access to the nursing and allied health literature and information from 1937 to the present. Material covered includes journals, books, dissertations, and reports.
ClinicalTrials.gov
The U.S. National Institutes of Health, through its National Library of Medicine, has developed ClinicalTrials.gov to provide patients, family members and members of the public current information about clinical research studies. Check often for regular updates.

The Cochrane Library consists of a regularly updated collection of evidence-based medicine databases, including The Cochrane Database of Systematic Reviews—evidence-based systematic reviews prepared by the Cochrane Collaboration which provide high quality information to people providing and receiving care and those responsible for research, teaching, funding, and administration at all levels.

Columbia Earthscape, produced by Columbia University Press, covers the Earth Sciences, including Astronomy/Remote Sensing, Ecosystems and Environment, Geology and Seismology, Forestry, Meteorology and Climate, Oceanography, Paleontology, and relevent news on these topics from late 20th century to the present. Contemporary Women’s Issues UCLA only
The Contemporary Women’s Issues (CWI) database provides full-text access to global information on women. Journals, newsletters, and research reports from non-profit groups, and government and international agencies are easily accessed through CWI. Information on women in over 190 countries is compiled in a single collection bringing together such disciplines as sociology, psychology, health, education, business administration and political science. Counting California
Researchers and the public can discover and interact with current and historical census data, almanac-style statistics, county business data, and a range of education, crime, election, and demographic information from several different federal and California State agencies. Counting California’s single interface integrates data and allows searching by topic, geography, title, and data provider. Current Protocols Online provides a user-friendly search and retrieval interface to laboratory manuals considered to be the benchmark standard for scientific research methods in a number of different disciplines. Delphion Intellectual Property Network
Formerly the IBM Patent Server, the Delphion Intellectual Property Network provides access to the bibliographic data and text of all claims of numerous patents issued by the United States Patent & Trademark Office (USPTO) from 1974 to the present, plus some patents issued from 1971 to 1973. Patent images are also available. The database is searchable by title, inventor, assignee, abstract, claims and agent.
Developmental and Reproductive Toxicology (DART) via TOXNET
This database contains citations to journal articles covering birth defects and other aspects of developmental and reproductive toxicology from 1989 to the present. DART is a continuation of the ETICBACK database, which provides the same coverage for information written from 1950 to 1989.
DIRLINE (Directory of Information Resources onLINE)

The encyclopedia consists of 3,000 signed articles contributed by 5,000 of the world’s leading scientists. All articles are peer-reviewed and rigorously edited before being added to the Encyclopedia of Life Sciences. The Encyclopedia of Life Sciences is extensively cross-referenced and indexed, with an estimated 30,000 internal links and up to 180,000 index entries. Entrez: the Life Sciences Search Engine
Describes the Entrez Browser, an online database search engine for retrieving molecular biology-related citations and records from the National Center for Biotechnology Information (NCBI) databases. Entrez accesses the molecular biology subset of the National Library of Medicine’s database of biomedical articles, proteins from worldwide databases, and nucleotides from the NCBI GenBank. The Ethnic NewsWatch database contains news, culture and history from 200 publications of the ethnic, minority and native press. Genetic Toxicology/Mutagenicity Data Bank (GENE-TOX) via TOXNET
This factual database is created and maintained by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), and contains genetic toxicology or mutagenicity data on about 3,000 chemicals. Data is based on expert peer-review of the scientific literature.
The Genome Database
This database is the central repository for genomic mapping data resulting from the Human Genome Initiative, storing data generated worldwide by researchers engaged with the Human Genome Project. The data is displayed as an encyclopedia of the human genome that is constantly updated, and includes descriptions of regions of the human genome and various maps of the human genome.

This factual database is organized into approximately 4,500 individual chemical records, and focuses on the toxicology of potentially hazardous chemicals. All data included in the database are peer-reviewed and include information about human exposure levels, industrial hygiene, emergency handling procedures, environmental fate, regulatory requirements, and related areas.

History of Science, Technology, and Medicine
The History of Science, Technology, and Medicine database describes journal articles, conference proceedings, books, book reviews, and dissertations in the history of science, technology, medicine, and allied historical fields. The database integrates four bibliographies: Isis Current Bibliography of the History of Science, Current Bibliography in the History of Technology (Technology and Culture), Bibliografia Italiana di Storia della Scienza, and the Wellcome Library for the History and Understanding of Medicine. Updated quarterly, History of Science, Technology, and Medicine covers 1975 to the present.
HIV Sequence Database
The HIV Sequence Database focuses on four primary areas of interest to the AIDS research community: collecting HIV and related genetic sequence data (since 1987), providing a curatorial role in annotating this data, extensive computer analysis of HIV and related sequences, and publication of the data and analyses. The web site provides access to retroviral genetic sequence data, retroviral nucleotide and protein alignments, and the annual publication Human retroviruses and AIDS publication, available in PDF format. Nucleotide sequences appear in GenBank and EMBL formats, and protein translations in SWISS-PROT format.
HPV Database (Human Papillomaviruses Database)
The HPV Database collects, curates, analyzes, and publishes genetic sequences of papillomarviruses and related cellular poteins. This database contains nucleotide sequences that appeared in the annual data books Human Papillomaviruses, in both GenBank and EMBL formts, as well as protein translations of the coding regions, in SWISS-PROT format. The annual data books are also available as PDF documents.
HREX (Human Radiation Experiments Information Management System)

Natural Standard

This search system provides access to the PubMed database of bibliographic information, which is drawn primarily from MEDLINE, which indexes articles from over 4,800 journals covering the fields of medicine, nursing, dentistry, veterinary medicine, and the preclinical sciences, dating from the mid-1950s to the present. In addition, for participating journals that are indexed selectively for MEDLINE, PubMed includes all articles from that journal, not just those that are included in MEDLINE. Wiley Interscience Acronym Finder
The Scientific and Technical Acronyms, Symbols, and Abbreviations or Acronym Finder online reference is provided within Wiley InterScience as a tool for the look up of acronyms and other short terms used in scientific works. The main method for locating a term is the Search function, which is displayed in a pop-up window when the Acronym Finder link is selected in the all product search box. The product also includes a Browse function that lets you view alphabetically arranged groups of acronyms. The third feature of the product is the Reference Tables, which includes tables of special acronym types such as mathematical and electrical symbols. Each acronym record includes a term, definition, and one or more subject categories such as Chemistry or Life Sciences. Some of the terms include special characters such as Greek or mathematical symbols or subscripted and superscripted characters that cannot be searched upon directly. For these terms, the Browse feature can be used to display an alphabetically arranged group of acronyms.
