The Arts Library follows the general UCLA Library borrowing policy with respect to loan periods and borrowing privileges; additional information is available at the circulation desk in any campus library.
Visitors who do not have a library card but want to consult restricted materials or items housed in the Southern Regional Library Facility must request an access-only card at the Arts Library circulation; a current, government-issued photo ID is required, and there is no fee. Visitors who want to purchase a library card for borrowing purposes may do so only at the Louise M. Darling Biomedical Library, College Library, and Charles E. Young Research Library; the Research Library is the only one that accepts cash.
Materials placed on reserve for courses in architecture, art, art history, design, film and television, and theater can be found by searching Course Reserves in the UCLA Library Catalog. Online access to materials is provided whenever possible; print items are housed in the Arts Library.
Faculty members and instructors should submit reserve lists for courses in art, art history, design, film and television, and theater to circulation services in the Arts Library.
Further information is available on the About Course Reserves Web page.
When UCLA is in session, walk-in reference assistance is offered in the Arts Library Monday through Friday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. In-person reference assistance is offered at other times by appointment. Reference assistance by telephone is not offered by the Arts Library, but questions can be sent by email via the reference form.
In addition, research guides in various subjects in the arts are available online through the links at the top of this page or in print in the Arts Library.
Librarians can tailor classes and workshops on using library databases and finding information to suit the needs of particular courses and faculty requests. To arrange for instruction, please contact the appropriate subject specialist:
