Library Closure December 22 - January 2

UCLA Library facilities will be closed from Thursday, December 22, 2011, through Monday, January 2, 2012, as part of the campuswide Winter Holiday Closure.

Hours

The online hours Web site has been updated to reflect hours for all campus libraries before the holiday closure. The telephone recording at 310.825.8301 also provides information on current hours.

The libraries will reopen and a full schedule of operations will resume on Tuesday, January 3.

Services

Requests submitted online for services will be processed as follows:

Please note that although items can be renewed online at any time, the due dates of all items have been changed so that none will be due during the closure dates. Telephone and email renewal services will be unavailable during the closure.

Returning Items

Due dates have been changed so that no items will be due during the closure period. However, if you would like to return items between December 22 and January 2, universal return locations are accessible from the exteriors of the following libraries:

Reference Assistance

Reference assistance by email or by telephone will be unavailable between December 22 and January 2. UCLA students, faculty, and staff who send email inquiries or leave telephone messages during the closure period will receive replies starting on January 3; queries will be answered in the order in which they were received.

Other Library Services

  • Interlibrary Loan: Interlibrary loan requests submitted between December 22 and January 2 may not be processed until January 3.
  • Course Reserves: Users can search the online database of class reserve materials during the closure; reserve lists submitted by instructors using the online form between December 22 and January 2 will be processed starting on January 3.

Other Online Resources

The following online resources will be available for remote access. Note: users must access resources restricted to UCLA or UC students, faculty, and staff through the campus network, Bruin OnLine (BOL), or the BOL proxy server.

  • Melvyl: This UC-wide catalog will be accessible throughout the closure; however, requests for items from other campuses may not be processed between December 22 and January 2.
