Copyright, Publishing, and Intellectual Property: Faculty Workshop Series Continues; New UC-Springer Open Access AgreementThe Library's popular faculty lunch series continues in the winter quarter with: "Don't I Own My Own Work?": Negotiating to Keep Your Copyright As a UCLA faculty member, you must be productive in a "publish or perish" environment. But in your rush to publish, are you signing an agreement with your publisher without reading it fully or understanding its implications? You might unknowingly surrender your copyright and, along with it, the rights to use and reuse your work as you wish. Find out how to read author agreements and how to negotiate to keep your rights. Learn from colleagues who have efficiently negotiated agreements without risk to their academic advancement. Attendance is open to UCLA faculty only; admission is free, but advance reservations are required. Lunch will be provided. Register Online New UC-wide Open Access Agreement The articles will be accessible via SpringerLink and will be published under the terms of a Creative Commons attribution, non-commercial license. When publishing in a Springer journal, authors will see acceptance screens advising them of this arrangement. Authors will not be offered an opt-out option at this time, although this can be considered for a later stage if there is a demand for it. Planning is also underway for automatic deposit of these articles into the UC eScholarship Repository. |
