Call for Librarian of the Year Nominations

The Librarians' Association of the University of California, Los Angeles (LAUC-LA) invites nominations for its 2009 Librarian of the Year award. The deadline for nominations is Friday, March 13, at 5 p.m.

The award recognizes excellence in librarianship, particularly as it furthers the teaching and research mission of UCLA and meets the intellectual, informational, and cultural needs of the university community. Candidates should embody creativity, innovation, courage, leadership, or scholarship. Candidates should be nominated for a specific contribution made during the last twelve to eighteen months. All UCLA librarians employed fifty percent time or more can be nominated.

To submit a nomination, use the online form. Supporting documentation such as letters of recommendation, citations of articles, Web sites, descriptions of research, or publicity materials can be submitted separately to Esther Grassian by email or by campus mail to her attention at the College Library, mailcode 145004.

Nominations and supporting materials will be kept strictly confidential until the recipient has been announced. If you have questions, email Grassian or call her at extension 64410.

LAUC is the University of California's primary organization for professional librarian and governance affairs.
