Teaching with Wikipedia

Tuesday, Mar 31, 2015 - 5:00pm to 6:00pm

Students use Wikipedia—but have you ever thought of asking them to contribute content to Wikipedia?

In this short workshop, LiAnna Davis from the Wiki Education Foundation will explain best practices for using Wikipedia as a teaching tool.

Tobias Higbie, Associate Professor in the UCLA Department of History and director of the department's Public History Initiative, will also share his experiences using Wikipedia assignments in his classes.

In contributing content to Wikipedia, students gain skills in media literacy, fact-based writing, research, collaboration, and critical thinking.

You'll learn how Wiki Ed can support you and your students in this innovative service learning assignment.
