For nearly a century, Bruins have used songs, images, and symbols to express loyalty and community.

In 1919, UCLA borrowed its traditions from the older UC campus at Berkeley: colors, alma mater, "Cubs," and card stunts.

By 1924-1925, UCLA had grown into a four-year university, granting bachelor's degrees and making its own traditions, some of which are still celebrated today.

This exhibit explores the evolution of five areas of UCLA spirit: school songs, mascots, the Marching Band, card stunts, and the Spirit Squad.

Exhibits are on display in the Powell Library Rotunda and in the lobby of UCLA Library Special Collections.
