The final program of the academic year will be a work-in-progress presentation on "A Simulacra of Birth: The Pedagogical Instruments and Obstetrical Course of Madame du Coudray." The draft paper incorporates history of midwifery research Ms. Bueler did as the  2015 Barbara Rootenberg Short-term Library Research Fellow in UCLA Library Special Collections.

This program will include a brief tour of several rare books, manuscripts, and objects—in order to set the scene—followed by the work-in-progress paper presentation. Then, discussion will include the opportunity for close, hands-on consideration of the books, etc.

Lunch will be served for attendees who confirm before 8:00 a.m. on Wednesday, June 3rd, when we will place the catering order. Reservations received later will not guarantee a lunch.

Seating is limited; reservations are REQUIRED. Reservations may be made contacting History & Special Collections for the Sciences (voice: 310.825.6940; email: speccoll-medsci@library.ucla.edu).

This UCLA History of Medicine and Medical Humanities Research Forum (this is the 29th meeting in the series) is made possible by the History & Social Studies of Medicine Program, David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA; and by History & Special Collections for the Sciences, UCLA Library Special Collections.
