Filmmakin’: Equipment, Shooting, and Editing

This workshop is for those who want to use film as a method of research, whether in creating a documentary film, or to collect qualitative data through interviews. The workshop will cover the basics on equipment, how to shoot an interview, B-roll, and verite footage. Using Adobe Premiere Pro, this workshop will also cover the basics in video editing.

Spring 2017 Research Data Visualization Series

With campus research increasingly demanding new and innovative approaches to data visualization and analysis, these workshops will cover topics on various research tools beyond digital mapping including ways to extract data from the web using Python, film editing in Adobe Premiere Pro, and 3D animation in Adobe After Effects. Each session will introduce subject material and is intended to leave attendees with a basic understanding on how to utilize digital technologies and other materials for their research. Co-sponsored by the UCLA Library and UCLA’s Institute for Digital Research and Education.
