Eleanor Mitchell, College Library, and Sarah Watstein, AUL for Research & Instructional Services, for research into how librarians keep up with new developments, technology, and trends.

Yolanda Retter, Chicano Studies Research Center, was awarded a LAUC Statewide Grant (along with Lillian Castillo-Speed of UCB) for the revision of the Chicano Thesaurus.

Gia Aivazian, Cataloging and Metadata Center, to support bibliographic work on an annotated bibliography of Armenian folk literature.

Lisa Kernan, Arts Library, to complete final edits to her book, Coming Attractions: Reading American Movie Trailers.

John Vallier, Ethnomusicology, to prepare the manuscripts and papers of sociologist Ivan Vallier for deposit into UCSC Special Collections.

Orchid Mazurkiewicz, Latin American Center, to research the information-seeking behavior of Latin Americanist students.

Roberta Medford (YRL, Social Sciences Bibliographer). To compile, format, and index an annotated bibliography on housing discrimination in U.S. Suburbs for publication in the Council of Planning Librarians CPL Bibliography Series.

Alan Michelson (Arts Librarian for Architecture and Design). To assist in building a multi-media database on California architecture and architects.

Paul G. Naiditch (Special Collections, Curator of Medieval and Renaissance Manuscripts and Classics Bibliographer). To obtain microfilm copies of books annotated by Richard Porson in furtherance of a book on Porson's library.

Bruce Whiteman (Clark Memorial Library). To support a research trip to Yale Library in New Haven, CT in furtherance of a cultural biography of the 19th Century manuscript forger, Constantine Simonides.

Beth Feinberg (Slavic Languages and Social Sciences Cataloger) To create a finding aid to the collection of documents from the Romanian Communist Party Archives recently acquired by YRL.

Lisa Kernan (Arts Librarian for Film, Television and Theater) To assist in creating illustrations for her book tentatively entitled: Reading Movie Trailers: Hollywood Dreams its Audience.

Marsha Kmec (Director of Library Services - Olive View Medical Center) To assist in surveying San Fernando Valley Public Libraries and other areas North of Sylmar to assess health information access for minority and under-served areas. To provide an instructional component for the use of PubMed and Medline Plus.

Louise Ratliff (YRL Cataloging - Social Sciences Cataloger/Automation Support) To assist in compilation of a bibliography to be used in an article or book about single women in the trans-Mississippi West in the latter half of the 19th century.

Barbara Schader (Biomedical Library - Head of Collection Development) To assist in creating a palliative care website for the use of physicians, support staff and students in dealing with palliative care, pain and end-of-life issues.

Itibari Zula (Head Librarian, CAAS Library & Media Center) To assist in completion of a book manuscript listing and defining words, phrases, concepts and terms on or related to the African American or African world community experience, which will be published under the title: Soul Session: A Concise Dictionary of Africology.
